On the eve of the premiere of our film “The Flood” in California, at SEEfest (Saturday, April 30th at 1:00 PM in Goethe Institut, Los Angeles) we are inviting all the former residents, descendants or researchers and custodians of sunken cities throughout California, to join us in building the virtual map of all sunken cities in the world.
We need your stories, memories, emotions.
Documentary “The Flood” is the first stage of the project The Memory Cities which intends to collect data and a map and build a virtual space in order to save submerged towns from being forgotten.
Construction of the big dams brings the progress to humanity, but it comes with great sacrifices. Ecosystems in these regions are sacrificed. People born in these cities are sacrificed, as is the certain way of life that remains underwater.
Join us in making the piece of the Californian history, soul and memories that stayed underwater – part of the worldwide map of the submerged cities.
Some of cities submerged in California:
Kennett and many village sites of the Wintun people.
Monticello, California
Northern California, Las Plumas.
Southern California, the former towns of Isabella and Kernville.
Today Folsom lake, was once a Mormon Island
If this is your story, please contact us HERE.
Kennett was an important mining town in northern California, completely submerged by 1944,
during construction of Shasta Dam.
